Trademarks and other distinctive signs, such as trade names, logos and advertising signs are regulated in Costa Rica by the Trademark Statute No. 7978 of December 22, 1999. Likewise, since October 31, 1995, our country participates in the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property. The registration of a trademark is valid for a period of ten years and it can be renewed indefinitely for consecutive 10-year periods.
